A Year in Book Cover Design
Saturday, December 26, 2009

The fine people at The Millions asked us to pick our favorite covers of 2009. Check out the short article here.

A Poster Bonanza
Friday, December 4, 2009

We've been busy bees here at MFD HQ. Here are three posters we just finished printing.

We designed this poster for Jonathan Lethem and his marathon readings of his new novel Chronic City in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

This one was for the first 250 people who pre-ordered The Magnetic Fields' new record Realism through the Nonesuch website. We were stunned when they called and told us they sold out in less than 24 hours. Make sure to stop by the merch booth and say hi when they tour in February. We'll have new posters as well as some awesome shirts and other stuff for sale.

And finally, this one is available on Peter Bjorn and John's winter tour with El Perro Del Mar.

The Lethem and PB&J posters are available at M + E in extremely limited quantities. Get them before they're all gone.

Get Hooked
Monday, November 9, 2009

We're proud to announce the imminent opening of The Meat Hook (part of The Brooklyn Kitchen Labs) which is sure to become Brooklyn's best butcher shop. Here's a photo of the logo we designed for them being painted on the front door. Starting next week, head over for your steaks, sausages, and Thanksgiving turkeys, as well as your Meat Hook t-shirts and beer coozies. Get hooked!

Closer to Mat Kearney
Saturday, October 17, 2009

A few months ago, we got a call from Mat Kearney asking us to design some shirts for his upcoming fall tour. We ended up doing two shirts and a sweatshirt. All are available on his site or at one of his upcoming shows. Check them out below.

Central Park is for Lovers
Tuesday, October 6, 2009

As in, lovers of Phoenix and Passion Pit, a group which includes Sofia Coppola and the staff of MFD. We made these prints for the two P/PP shows in Central Park, and then watched as they sold out. What fun. Of course, we squirreled away some for ourselves, and so you can order a print at M + E. Astute MFD followers will recognize the illustration stylings of our friend Kate Bonner on one of the two prints.

Both are available now at M + E in limited quantities. Get 'em before they're gone!

New Studio, New Prints.
Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Though it was difficult to bid Madison goodbye, we here at MFD have done a serious upgrade. Our new Brooklyn studio is twice as big and 400 times as beautiful. To celebrate this new space, we've made two new prints.

"You You You You You" is a 3 color print inspired by The 6ths song of the same name. Who are The 6ths, you ask? Why, they are one of the many bands of our friend Stephin Merritt, who you may know from The Magnetic Fields.

"Sink Florida Sink" is a 2 color print inspired by Against Me!'s joyous diatribe. While we don't really want Florida to sink into the ocean, we do imagine it happening from time to time.

Both are available now at M + E. Enjoy!

We here at MFD are longtime fans of FaceOut Books, and so we are really excited to be featured on their site. Click here to check out FaceOut's piece on our Chester Himes' jackets. The post includes rejected comps, original artwork, and more. Also, it's badass.

Three Square Meals and Other Delicious Pursuits
Sunday, June 7, 2009

The sweatshop is starting to smell like a kitchen. We've just cooked up these four gorgeous new prints. Breakfast! Lunch! Dinner! And, of course, the best meal of them all, dessert. Order them individually or as a set at M+E.
