Poets are nice, part two.
Monday, November 10, 2008
We just printed these twittering, cawing new posters for the second
Blue Ox Reading Series. If you're in Madison, head down to Avol's
Bookstore this Thursday to see Jessica Nordell and Ryan Walsh in
action. We're particularly partial to the olive-colored French paper.
It makes us want to write poems, too.

Updates...
Monday, November 3, 2008
Busy as we've been for the last couple of months, we've been woefully lax when it comes to site updates. But those days are behind us! Take a look at all the work we've added in the Books, CDs, Identities, and Other Work sections. Also, stay tuned for exciting information about where to purchase some of the fabulous prints you can see in the Other Work section. (Here's a hint)

Vote for MFD.
Thursday, October 30, 2008
One of the most fun jobs we've had recently was to design some Obama material for our friend's wonderful store, AliKat NYC. One of our cats, Killer, is responsible for the tagline, "Obama makes me purr." He makes all of us purr, in fact. The human half of MFD is very much looking forward to voting on Tuesday. Go team go!

TMF: Live in 3-D!
Friday, October 17, 2008
We're currently on the road with The Magnetic Fields, hocking their wares to fans all across this fine land. Unexpected highlights thus far: Dallas! Atlanta! Hooray. Here's the 3-D poster we made. It comes with its own 3-D glasses, of course. We're also keeping a tour blog, which you can visit at www.airplanesdonutsdistortion.tumblr.com.

Poets are nice.
Thursday, October 9, 2008
This is the first of two updates before we leave for tour. It's also the first of two posters we completed this week. This one was a quick run for a poetry reading happening on the 23rd. Two colors. Two readers. Two diving women. Twenty posters printed. We'll post what we've been slaving in the basement over for the last couple of weeks tomorrow. Until then, good night.

You Should Always Have a Friend in Texas
Sunday, October 5, 2008
Lucky for us, we've got Sophie. We recently made these honeycombed
business cards. They're sharp and sassy, just like Sophie.

MFD 4 EVER
Wednesday, October 1, 2008
Last week was a big one for Michael Fusco Design. We decided it would be better for the cats and the business if we were legally wed, and so we did just that. Below, take a look at our hand-typed, printed, letter-pressed, and hand-stamped wedding ephemera. Even if we weren't already rather in love, I think these invitations would have put us over the top.
The whole shebang.
Our friend Catherine Thompson is a very talented lady, and was kind enough to loan us said talents. She painted this incredible portrait in mere days. We want to marry her, too.
We typed each invitation individually-- if we were really sending this one to Tami and Eric Taylor, we would certainly make a joke about getting good seats to the upcoming Panther games.
We also hand-typed and stamped the placecards. Each envelope contained this little excerpt from Jane Austen's Emma, which a friend of ours read during the ceremony. That friend was also the videographer. We have a talented group of people at our fingertips. Yay, friends.
In addition to loving our friends, we also love our own little faces, so we made buttons. It's about time the merch team had some merch of their own, don't you think?
Because we had such a small wedding, we also sent out lots of these announcements. It would seem wrong to keep such a joyous portrait to ourselves.

Shugo comes to the states.
Thursday, September 18, 2008
Our friends at Startime Intl. asked us to design a poster for
Shugo Tokumaru's debut NYC performance, and we jumped at the chance.
Japanese lyrics, toy pianos, and a thousand layers of tiny
instruments? We love Shugo, and you will, too. He and his band
(including the inimitable Jon Natchez) will also be opening up for The Magnetic Fields in Columbus, Philly, DC, and Jersey City.
The poster is printed on a patterned paper by the French Paper Company. Here's a better look at the pattern:

Avery Gets A New Look
Sunday, September 14, 2008
We just designed a new logo for our friends at Avery. In case you don't know, Avery is bi-annual anthology for new fiction. Also, we're a little more than friends with Avery. Emma, our "creative genius" is actually a co-editor. Expect Avery totes, shirts, buttons, and future editions to have the MFD stamp. Check out the logo and business cards below.
In addition, we have lots of new projects on the horizon including 3D silkscreened posters for The Magnetic Fields' fall tour! Complete with custom 3D glasses.
More on that as well as a blog for the fall tour soon.

Dawn of the Dead
Tuesday, August 26, 2008
We recently designed the cover for our favorite song on Does It Offend You, Yeah's record You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into. Unfortunately, unless you work at a radio station, you probably won't be able to get your hands on the single, but you can check out the packaging in our CD's section. The band supplied the awesome illustrations. We supplied the fake blood.
