You Should Always Have a Friend in Texas

Lucky for us, we've got Sophie. We recently made these honeycombed
business cards. They're sharp and sassy, just like Sophie.

MFD 4 EVER

Last week was a big one for Michael Fusco Design. We decided it would be better for the cats and the business if we were legally wed, and so we did just that. Below, take a look at our hand-typed, printed, letter-pressed, and hand-stamped wedding ephemera. Even if we weren't already rather in love, I think these invitations would have put us over the top.

The whole shebang.

Our friend Catherine Thompson is a very talented lady, and was kind enough to loan us said talents. She painted this incredible portrait in mere days. We want to marry her, too.

We typed each invitation individually-- if we were really sending this one to Tami and Eric Taylor, we would certainly make a joke about getting good seats to the upcoming Panther games.

We also hand-typed and stamped the placecards. Each envelope contained this little excerpt from Jane Austen's Emma, which a friend of ours read during the ceremony. That friend was also the videographer. We have a ta...

Shugo comes to the states.

Our friends at Startime Intl. asked us to design a poster for
Shugo Tokumaru's debut NYC performance, and we jumped at the chance.
Japanese lyrics, toy pianos, and a thousand layers of tiny
instruments? We love Shugo, and you will, too. He and his band
(including the inimitable Jon Natchez) will also be opening up for The Magnetic Fields in Columbus, Philly, DC, and Jersey City.

The poster is printed on a patterned paper by the French Paper Company. Here's a better look at the pattern:

Avery Gets A New Look

We just designed a new logo for our friends at Avery. In case you don't know, Avery is bi-annual anthology for new fiction. Also, we're a little more than friends with Avery. Emma, our "creative genius" is actually a co-editor. Expect Avery totes, shirts, buttons, and future editions to have the MFD stamp. Check out the logo and business cards below.

In addition, we have lots of new projects on the horizon including 3D silkscreened posters for The Magnetic Fields' fall tour! Complete with custom 3D glasses.

More on that as well as a blog for the fall tour soon.

Dawn of the Dead

We recently designed the cover for our favorite song on Does It Offend You, Yeah's record You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into. Unfortunately, unless you work at a radio station, you probably won't be able to get your hands on the single, but you can check out the packaging in our CD's section. The band supplied the awesome illustrations. We supplied the fake blood.

DIOYY on Jimmy Kimmel

Delta lost the suitcase housing the vinyl LP mock-up we made, but the cover still looks great. Watch a recently dumped Jimmy Kimmel hold it up. You can almost see the tears in his eyes, crying for Sarah.

The Princess, The Athlete, The Brain, The Criminal, The Basket Case

No, we're not talking about The Breakfast Club. MFD designed the CD package for the soundtrack to the new documentary American Teen which will hit theatres later this month. The soundtrack features MFD faves DIOYY? and Black Kids as well as other artists of note, including Cat Stevens, MGMT, and The Ting Tings. The album is certainly worth a listen, and the packaging....well, we're feeling very proud. American Teen: Music From The Motion Picture featuring a lot of hand lettered type can be found in record stores now.

As always, the entire layout can be found in the CD Packaging section.

Weddings A-Go-Go 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Well, we told you it was wedding season at MFD. Here's more proof.
We're particularly partial to the perforated response card we did for
Leo and Amanda.

Click on Other Work to see all the gorgeous details.

Our favorite part of Brian and Ann's letterpressed invitations are the alligators we had illustrated by the fabulous David Cole Wheeler. Brian and Ann, good Gators fans that they are, loved them just as much as we did.
